They say true love only happens once in a lifetime. If that's the case then Dan_Dare & Skye shared a love that stretches the boundaries of time. I once heard it is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all. I'm sure Dan feels this way as well.

Janet and John announced their engagement on her birthday, April 14, 2003.

John said, "It was supposed to be really romantic. First, we went to the movies to see LOTR: The Two Towers. Afterwards we were going to eat Italian and I was going to propose in the restaurant. (she loved pasta) Yet, after we had seen the film, she changed her mind about Italian and wanted to go to the LoneStar Steakhouse & Saloon. *lol* So, I decided that that wasn't really an appropriate place to propose."

"I waited until after we returned to her brother's home, got down on one knee and said, 'Janet my love, woulds't thou consent to take this poor Englishman to be thy life partner?"

To which Janet replied, "Yes, with all my heart", started crying and kissed John.

Dan_Dare - John

John, "Janet and I had spoken in chat on and off for a while ...then in January 2001, the 20th to be exact ...she asked me if we were an item."

"As she asked me that ..I realised that all the carefully constructed defences, I had built after being hurt first by Liz and then by Michele, had been circumvented by this lady who was just there and listened and cared."

"It was in about February that she suggested that we have a vacation together in Myrtle Beach, SC. So, got my passport and applied for a full US Visa ...and set out on the 9th September 2001, for my first ever trip outside the country. We all know what happened two days later. (9-11)"

"We had arranged to be at the Caravelle for a few days. Then, we were going to spend a few days with her brother in Fayetteville, NC and then come back to Myrtle Beach for a final weekend."

"9-11 kinda put a bit of a crimp on my vacation, as was wanting to see some American TV ...... lol ...... but every channel was filled with 'experts' giving their opinions. Despite that we had a good time together and I realized that I wanted to come to America so much to be with this woman."

"After we both got back home .... we both decided we wanted a longer vacation .... so we waited and we saved. I hoarded my leave so I could take 5 weeks vacation."

"I had decided in about June 2002 that next time we got together, I was going to ask her to marry me."

Janet's Memorial

Janet's wish was to be cremated and have her ashes scattered at Myrtle Beach. Janet was laid to rest in Myrtle Beach, SC. My brother Mark, my mother Patricia, dunno who that scrote is there in the black shirt is .... lol, Janet's son Bryan & his wife Chris with their son Ethan, Janet's daughter Erica (and not pictured was Janet's brother Larry and his wife Terri), were at the ceremony.
